Dieting takes a lot of hard work and effort.  Losing weight can be made easier with good planning. Below I have listed a few things that I do each day which has helped me to lose weight and keep it off for good.

  1. Drink plenty of water-Ditch the sugary soft drinks and juices.  Some nutritionists  even believe that diet sodas contribute to weight gain because they can cause bloat. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.  Water not only hydrates your body but it also helps you to feel full.
  2. Replace those high fat snacks –Instead,  fill up on fruits and vegetables.  It is recommended to get in at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.  Eating the recommended number of serving of fruits and vegetables will not only fill you up but most are also very low in calories.
  3. Get enough exercise-Health experts recommend that you get in 30-60 minutes of exercise for at least 3  days a week to achieve weight loss.  Exercise helps with increasing your metabolism.  Weight training is also great for weight loss because you build muscle and the more muscle you have while exercising, the more fat you will burn.
  4. Don’t skip meals-eating 5-6 small meals every few hours will keep your metabolism    operating   properly.
  5. Cheat-Well not really, steer clear of those high fat high sugary snacks that will only serve in taking you off the course of your weight loss goals. But I do think it’s important to occasionally reward yourself at the end of the day because of all your hard work. Try some low calorie, delicious snacks that will not disturb your daily caloric goal.

Here are a few snacks I use:

  • The Skinny Cow ice-cream -I like the sandwich cookies and really can’t tell the difference between the higher calorie ones.  I have recently tried the vanilla and chocolate combo.  This is a low-fat, low calorie ice cream snack.  If you like ice-cream sandwiches, believe me you will love these.  They come six to a pack and each one is only 140 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.
  • Breyers Smooth & Dreamy ice cream- I have tried the new sandwich cookies in two flavors, chocolate chip cookie dough and the vanilla fudge and I’m telling you my taste buds do a happy dance each time I eat them.  This is a light ice cream snack and each one is only 160 calories, 4grams of fat and has no artificial flavors or colors.  In my opinion it is the chips in this ice cream that set it above a lot of other low calorie ice creams I have tried.
  • Quaker True Delight Rice Snacks-These snacks definitely satisfy my cravings for potatoe chips.  I enjoy two flavors, the cheddar and the salt and pepper. They are a great light snack for only 70 calories per 9 small rice cakes.

I hope these tips will help those of you who are looking for answers or help for your weight loss.  Taking the time to get to know your body is the key to any weight loss you are going to achieve and always consult with your physician before starting any weight loss program.
