When I work out, I sweat. I’m not one of those people who can go from a session at the gym to a coffee date with friends. By the end of my workout, my clothes are drenched and the last thing I want to do is sit around in a public place while chit chatting over coffee. I’m slightly envious of women who can transition so seamlessly (and dryly) from gym to errands or whatever else.
But knowing this sweaty fact about myself makes choosing workout gear a top priority. As much as I love me some cotton tank tops, I can’t wear them to the gym. They get soaked and then they just hang on me like a wet, cold rag. It’s both unattractive and uncomfortable. One top that I found and love is the Lululemon Power Y Tank. It’s made with their signature fabric called Luon, which is moisture wicking and pre-shrunk. What’s great is that I can completely soak the tank in an hour-long cardio session but the material is able to hold the wetness away from my skin so it’s never uncomfortable. And no matter how much moisture it holds, the tank never loses shape. This is another complaint of cotton varieties, they tend to stretch out and look boxy throughout my workout. This Power Y Tank fits snugly through the body from beginning to end.
This tank has a long fit that not only covers the stomach but also stays in place. I’ve had other tanks that ride up and there’s nothing more annoying than having to continually pull my shirt down while running on the treadmill. The scoop neck, racerback shape is both flattering and comfortable and it comes with a built in bra. So it can be worn alone for activities such as yoga or weight training or with an additional sports bra when running or anything else involving higher intensity.
My only complaint about the Lululemon Power Y Tank is that it costs over $50. For someone who works out nearly every day, having multiple workout tops is essential. But for $50-plus bucks a pop, that can add up. One thing about cotton tanks, they are a lot cheaper! I’m not sure how well the Power Y Tank would be for anyone with a cup size larger than a C. My guess is that it would simply not provide enough support, but for those of us that are C’s or smaller, it fits great!
I would definitely recommend the Lululemon Power Y Tank for a wide assortment of fitness activities. It’s a flattering style that is both functional and comfortable and best of all, the Luon fabric keeps the moisture away from your skin! It can be soaking wet but still feel comfortable (sometimes I feel a bit as though I’m wearing a very thin wet suit). I won’t be leaving the gym without showering and changing first to go meet friends at a local café but the Power Y Tank does a great job of supporting me through my sweatiness.
