Do Slim People Starve Themselves?

Answer:  This is definitely not the case for those who lose weight and keep it off.  People who have been slim all their lives or those who have lost weight and managed to keep it off know that when it comes to eating, portion control and moderation is important.  You can eat a balanced diet and be truly satisfied, all without the weight gain.

In the past, I’ve tried just about every fad diet out there.  Some of the ones I’ve tried are:

  • The Cabbage Soup Diet
  • Fasting
  • The Grapefruit diet
  • The Fruit diet- I ate nothing but fruit and  I don’t even know if there is a such thing as a fruit diet but my reasoning was that it was at least health food. Only lasted 6 hours.
  • The 3 day diet

The above diets only served to discourage me, cause additional weight gain and totally mess up my metabolism.  These days I eat no more than 1500 calories a day and I workout 30 minutes daily.  I am aware of everything I eat and have learned that eating sensibly can be an enjoyable and delicious experience.  Cooking is fun and there are a lot of web-sites out there that are loaded with recipes both healthy and delicious the whole family can enjoy. I’ve also learned how to measure my BMI (body mass index), my BMR (body metabolic rate) and my RMR (resting metabolic rate), which has help me in calculating the amount of foods I eat and the amount of calories I burn.

Remember you don’t have to make the same mistakes I did to get a slimmer body.  Eat sensibly, exercise and remember to get the thumbs up from your doctor before starting your exercise program.
