Sun Exposure: Along with getting Vitamin D from your supplements, you should be getting enough sun exposure. One of the reasons why people are so deficient in Vitamin D is people are afraid that they will get skin cancer. This fear makes them apply sun block every time they spend a day in the sun. You should apply sun block, but allow your skin to spend some time in the sun. Remember that it is harder for darker skin to take in sunshine, and this makes your body require more sunshine. The lighter your skin the more sensitive you are to the sun. Do not be afraid to spend about ten minutes outside, then apply the sunblock. You will be preventing skin cancer and also getting the right amount of Vitamin D.
